For researchers in British Columbia colleges, institutes and regional and special purpose universities engaged in the natural resources and advanced technology industries as well as other sectors of importance to British Columbia.
NRAS provides funding to permanent faculty in eligible post-secondary institutions working on projects with identified private sector collaborators. The projects must involve innovation activity, knowledge transfer and training for students and other innovation personnel; and financial contributions from the private sector collaborator are required.
The objectives of the program are:
- To expand the innovation potential of the province through post-secondary institution - private sector partnerships
- To enhance knowledge transfer to the private sector through collaboration with postsecondary institutions
- To provide relevant industrial experience and context for institution-based innovation personnel
- To create positive partnerships between the private sector and postsecondary institutions
- To leverage additional federal funding to expand individual programs
