BCIC and the BC Science Teachers' Association recognize outstanding performance in science courses among high school students in B.C. The award encourages students to pursue careers in science and technology.
In 2007, 248 BC Science Achievement Awards were provided to senior students in British Columbia's high schools.
Award Criteria
- The school is following BC Ministry of Education curricula.
- The student has taken a minimum of four courses in science in grades eleven and twelve.
- These courses will be chosen from Biology 11, Chemistry 11, Earth Science 11, Physics 11, Biology 12, Chemistry 12, Geology 12, and Physics 12.
- Proficiency in English 12 must be at a C+ level or better.
- The student must be passing all other courses.
- The school science staff will decide the winner from amongst the students meeting the above criteria, using their discretion where appropriate.
