BCIC offers support for innovative Grade 12 students to enter science, technology and business programs in British Columbia's post-secondary institutions and build careers in our advanced technology industries.

BCIC offers support for innovative Grade 12 students to enter science and technology programs in British Columbia's post-secondary institutions and build careers in our advanced technology industries. The scholarships are awarded through the Idea MashUp competition administered by participating schools.

The scholarships are valued at a minimum of $2,000. Through a partnership with the Southern Interior Regional Development Trust, the value of the scholarship in the Southern Interior region of B.C. is doubled to $4,000; and other partnerships are in development.

To participate, secondary schools must register with BCIC and they will be eligible to receive up to $750 to administer the competition. Students whose schools are not registered in the program can also compete for a scholarship by entering an Idea MashUp competition administered directly by BCIC.

Participating students enter their innovative ideas for a new technology into competition. Proposals should describe the innovation, the process for how the student came up with the idea, and the use of the innovation. Idea MashUps can be presented in a variety of forms, especially digital media.

The scholarship nominees are selected by their school based on their Idea MashUps and an Innovation Profile of the student, designed by BCIC and administered by the school. The scholarship is not necessarily awarded to the top student but is instead based on innovation merit.

To be eligible to receive the scholarship, a student must enroll in a B.C. post-secondary institution in one of the following programs:
science | technology | engineering | mathematics | digital arts+media+design | business entrepreneurship

Award Method: Participating schools will hold an in-house competition; students from non-registered schools can participate directly in a BCIC- administered competition.
Award Length: One award, non-renewable
Award Value: $2,000+ to leading student innovator(s) in the province
Annual Deadline: January 30th
